Hi, I’m Yishay

I come from a long line of musicians, so music was part of my life long before it became my profession. My grandmother graduated with honors from a music academy in France, while my grandfather played the flute and built unusual musical instruments. I grew up in a multicultural home where I might fall asleep to Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and wake up to the music of Farid al-Atrash.

I began exploring sound and music production at the age of eleven, back in 1995. By fourteen, I was already producing backing tracks and music for local performances. Since then, curiosity has remained the driving force behind my work: the excitement of taking an idea, a story or a feeling and turning it into something real, precise and emotionally resonant.

Over the past 25 years, I have worked across music, radio, television, film, advertising and digital media, contributing to projects broadcast in Israel and internationally. My work has included original music, music production, mixing, sound design, voice and audio content for artists, production companies, broadcasters, organizations and independent creators.

Today, I lead Room29, a boutique music and sound production house based in northern Israel. I work with production companies, filmmakers, artists and creative teams - from the first idea to the final mix, creating original music, sound design, audio post and distinctive sonic identities.

My approach combines creative instinct, technical precision and close collaboration. I care deeply about how a project sounds, but just as much about the story behind it and the people creating it. Every project requires a different process, and my role is to listen, understand what the work is trying to become and help move it forward with clarity and purpose.

My background also includes studies in marketing communications, copywriting, content development and film. This wider perspective allows me to approach music and sound not as isolated elements, but as an essential part of the story, identity and emotional impact of every project.

Alongside my studio work, I lecture in sound engineering and music production. Teaching has strengthened the way I think about the craft - not simply as a collection of tools and techniques, but as a language that connects creativity, emotion and communication.

Room29 is where these worlds come together: music, sound, story and people.
